The processing sales price of chicken legs has decreased

According to data from the Central Statistical Office, Hungary’s poultry meat exports increased by 37 percent to 46 thousand tons in the first two months of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. Within this, chicken meat exports increased by 34 percent to almost 34 thousand tons, and turkey meat by 26 percent to 4 thousand tons. The largest target markets for poultry meat were Poland and Romania.

Hungary’s poultry meat imports decreased by 33 percent to 7 thousand tons in the period under review, within which chicken meat imports fell by 34.5 percent to 6 thousand tons, while turkey meat increased by 4.5 percent to 487 tons. Most poultry meat continued to come from Poland. According to data from the European Commission, the EU average price of a whole chicken was 292 euros/100 kilograms in March 2026, which was 4 percent higher than the previous year. According to AKI PÁIR data, the live weight producer price of slaughter chicken in Hungary decreased by 3.3 percent to 418.5 HUF/kilogram, while that of slaughter turkey increased by 12.7 percent to 690.1 HUF/kilogram in the first three months of 2026 compared to the same period of the previous year. The processing sales price of chicken breast fillet was 1909.1 HUF/kilogram (-0.4 percent), bone-in chicken breast was 1162.0 HUF/kilogram (-5.6 percent), chicken breast (total) was 1794.1 HUF/kilogram (-3.1 percent), and chicken leg was 832.9 HUF/kilogram (-5.4 percent) in the observed period.
