Colonnade Insurance is prepared to compensate Unitravel passengers as soon as possible
Colonnade Insurance is prepared to compensate the affected passengers of Unitravel Kft. as soon as possible, in accordance with the law, the insurer is in consultation with the Budapest Government Office, and will immediately begin the administration after the official decision is made, in the manner and to the extent specified in the law.
It was announced that Colonnade Insurance is treating the situation with high priority, and its employees are available with a reinforced customer service background to settle all legitimate claims professionally and as quickly as possible.
According to the company’s statement, although the claim settlement procedure can only be initiated after the Budapest Government Office’s official decision establishing insolvency is issued, the documents required for submitting the claim can be submitted in advance by those affected – in preparation for the administration. In order to facilitate communication, a dedicated e-mail address has been set up, which provides direct access and support exclusively to customers affected by the Unitravel case, this is biztositek@colonnade.hu. Those affected will be kept informed of developments.
The government office will make a decision as soon as possible so that compensation for the passengers of the bankrupt travel agency can begin – the Budapest Metropolitan Government Office announced. As a commercial authority, the office has initiated proceedings in the case of the bankrupt Unitravel Kft. travel agency in order to help passengers in trouble, within the framework of which it will examine the contents of the company’s announcement, with particular attention to its insolvency situation. The government office – in consultation with the affected insurer – will make the official decision as soon as possible, as a result of which the insurer can begin compensating the affected passengers, in a total amount of more than 460 million forints – they wrote.
Unitravel Kft. informed passengers on Monday that it had become insolvent. The agency’s website stated that it was unable to fulfill its commitments, but that passengers abroad would be able to return home. They added that they strongly and specifically ask their passengers who have not yet started their journey not to show up.
