Just Eat Launches JET Go In The UK With Co-op
Food delivery firm Just Eat has introduced its delivery-as-a-service platform – JET Go – in the UK in with Co-op as its official launch partner.
The service will enable partner brands to receive orders from customers through their own channels while tapping into Just Eat’s technology infrastructure and network of independent couriers to offer on-demand, same-day and scheduled deliveries, ESM reports.
JET Go caters to the growing consumer demand for immediate convenience, with 80% of customers now wanting same-day or on-demand delivery. Moreover, three-fourth of on-demand grocery shoppers (75%) expect it to become part of their daily lives.
Shoppers will have access to groceries, takeaways, as well as essentials like pet food, pharmacy items and small electricals.
Retail orders on Just Eat doubled last year alone, reflecting the surging consumer appetite for fast, flexible, on-demand shopping, the company noted.
Matt Ephgrave, MD of Just Eat for business, stated, “At Just Eat, we’re focused on making convenience accessible – with around 500 orders placed every minute and 18 million UK customers expecting rapid fulfilment, our infrastructure and rider network is built to meet this demand.
“With JET Go, we can support our partner brands to respond and scale with confidence. […] JET Go is not only a powerful solution for major retailers, but also a game-changer for smaller high street businesses looking to offer on-demand delivery with full brand control while retaining control of the customer experience.”
Official Launch Partner
UK retailer Co-op has rolled out the service on its newly launched app, Peckish, allowing independent grocers to offer online delivery service to their local customers.
Customers within a five-mile radius can shop through Co-op’s online shop or the Just Eat app, selecting from a wide range of products, ranging from a full shop to forgotten or top-up ingredients for a midweek meal, or treats for evenings at home.
Chris Conway, quick commerce director at Co-op, said, “Growing our quick commerce channel is a priority for us and a core part of our strategic approach, and so I am delighted to extend and deepen our successful partnership with Just Eat. Innovation has always been fundamental to our approach and we continue to see consumer appetite for quick, easy and convenient grocery delivery continue to grow.
“Our new agreement with JET Go is an exciting new chapter in our relationship, which will see us work together to continue to grow Co-op’s leading q-comm channel and meet the evolving needs of shoppers in our communities across the UK.”
Delivery-as-a-service is already available on Just Eat’s platforms in 15 countries including Canada, Australia, Bulgaria and Spain.
Just Eat expects more big UK brands to join the platform in the coming months.
