The backbone of Vatera’s turnover this year was the collectibles categories, from which hundreds of thousands of items found their owners. In addition to antique coins, stamps, and medals, music and film data carriers are also popular: the renaissance of CDs is shown by the fact that with their sales of more than 46 thousand units, they overtook vinyl records, which are also sold in the tens of thousands, while Vatera shoppers are mostly looking for films on DVD, not Blu-ray. Among the toys, LEGO sets from various periods and matchboxes from the most popular periods are the most popular on the platform this Christmas.
This year, collectibles categories such as antique coins and stamps generated the most sales on Vatera, from which hundreds of thousands of items changed hands on the marketplace in 2025. These are all product types that are often no longer available when new, so they can also be ideal as Christmas gifts. The most sales were made in these categories at Vaterá from January to mid-December:

Is the CD experiencing a renaissance after vinyl?
By mid-December of this year, more than 46 thousand items containing music CDs (one item can contain several discs) were sold on the site, while vinyl records became only the second most popular medium in 2025 with approximately 15 thousand items behind compact discs. A few thousand audio cassettes found their owners, although blank ones are also popular among them, since it is no longer easy to acquire such a new recording medium for later recordings these days.
The turnover of records was stably strong throughout the year, with rock music generating the most sales (although this genre is broadly interpreted by the category classification), pop music being the second most popular genre, and electronic/techno being the third – jazz and classical music even making it into the top 5. The average selling price of items is also outstanding in the case of metal music, over 10 thousand forints, while buyers paid higher average prices of 5-6 thousand forints for hip-hop/rap records and blues albums. Among the records and collections sold at the highest prices this year were Tankcsapda, Queen, LGT, Neoton Família, and a Dopeman promotional record offered together with a Beton.Hofi album.
These are what Vatera shoppers are looking for before Christmas
Based on searches in the first weeks of this year’s holiday season, many people at Vatera are looking for matchboxes, LEGO sets, record store toys, button football teams, railway models, and Schenk figures, which are considered the “Hungarian Playmobil”. Among the works of art, paintings, Zsolnay porcelain, silver objects and jewelry are popular search terms, while within the music and film category, DVD and Blu-ray films, record players and CDs, but also card calendars, which are most exciting for collectors, are among the top 50 search terms.
The demand for Christmas decorations increases every year from November on Vatera, most people bought Christmas tree decorations this year, and string lights are the second most popular within the category. Among the decorations, those from the seventies and eighties, and those much older, are also for sale, while those with bulbs from the socialist era are more sought after from the light strings: thousands of original replacement bulbs that can be used with them have been found this year.
Matchbox and LEGO will be a hit in 2025 as well
Not only in searches, but also in second-hand sales, matchboxes and LEGO sets (as well as other similar toy cars and construction toys) have been consistently at the top of the list so far this year, and even before Christmas: buyers paid an average price of 2-3 thousand forints for the former, and 7-8 thousand forints for LEGOs. Among the toys representing today’s generation, LEGO’s 135-centimeter-wide Titanic set, launched at the end of 2021, sold for the highest price this year, nearly 240 thousand forints, while a 16-piece Transformers toy robot collection found a new owner for 226 thousand forints.
Among the antique toys, a pedal Moskvich is this year’s record holder, which was worth 370 thousand forints to its new owner, while the 1959 Hungarian national team, which was then
