Carrefour has established its first outlet in Russia. The company opened a hypermarket in a shopping centre in the capital Moscow.
The grocery retailer has leased 14,300 square metres of floor space spread across two floors, enough space for about 15,000 food products and 30,000 non-food items. The new store employs a workforce of around 450. According to the Carrefour Group’s executive director, Thierry Garnier, the company has invested €8 million in the Moscow store. The company has plans to open two additional hypermarkets in the country. One will be in the city of Krasnodar and the other in Lipezk.
