Bunge volunteers join hands for food security on World Food Day 2025
Bunge – a leading agribusiness solutions company that connects farmers to consumers – is expanding its Global Volunteer Program in celebration of World Food Day following its recent merger with Viterra. The company’s employees around the world are working “Hand in Hand” throughout October to promote food security and support the communities where they live and work.
The month-long initiative takes place in 148 cities in 26 countries, where Bunge employees work with local partners to strengthen food security for the benefit of more than 100 organizations.

In Hungary, Bunge employees organized activities to support the community of Martfű, where the company operates an oil pressing and refining plant.
For the third year in a row, Bunge employees at its Martfű and Budapest locations have been organizing a non-perishable food collection for those in need. In addition to employee donations, the company contributed Vénusz brand sunflower cooking oil to the collection. The donations were handed over to the Martfű group of the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service on October 17.
In addition, on October 21, Bunge colleagues from Budapest and Martfű participated in a charity cookout in Martfű, in cooperation with the Hungarian Food Bank Association. After last year’s event, this is the second year that Bunge colleagues have prepared food for local people in need as part of the initiative. This year’s donations helped the Szarvas Family and Child Welfare Center.
“World Food Day reminds us that when we work hand in hand with our communities, we can make a real difference. We embody our value of ‘Our actions are informed by compliance’ by uniting an even larger global team to address the key challenge of food security,”
said Gabriella Herzog, Bunge’s Director of Global Social Impact.
“It is inspiring to see our colleagues around the world dedicating their time and energy to supporting food security. Their actions reflect not only our values, but also a shared belief that building stronger food systems starts locally, with together, that we all contribute where we can.”
Since the launch of the World Food Day Global Volunteer Program in 2022, Bunge has organized hundreds of volunteer events worldwide.
World Food Day, held annually on October 16, is an international day designated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to promote awareness of and action for global food security. This is a key opportunity for Bunge to strengthen its role in promoting access to food, collaboration and sustainability in the food supply chain.
