said Saturday the government's priority is to protect children from
smoking. The paper also suggests banning cigarette vending machines

British government considers ban on cigarette packet branding
The proposed ban is part of a consultation document that marks the start of a 12-week debate on how to cut the number of people smoking in Britain.
Britain's Department of Health has
released proposals that would ban cigarette companies from putting
any kind of logo or branding onto their cigarette packets. Cigarette
manufacturers would have to sell cigarettes in plain black-and-white
boxes with nothing but health warnings written on them.
