Aldi unveils Brussel Sprout flavour cocktail
Budget retailer Aldi has asked the public to vote on its new ‘Sprout Nog’ cocktail flavour.
The beverage blends cream, cinnamon, cloves and sprout flavours that it says pair well with pancetta or walnuts. Before it hits the shelves, the retailer has asked consumers to vote on whether there is room for the aperitif to join its canned cocktail range.
This comes as research from the brand showcased that 56% of Brits loved Brussel Sprouts. Additionally, 46% of those surveyed reported they wanted to “experiment” more with the vegetable over the festive season.
Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: “Whether you love them or hate them, sprouts are a staple on Christmas tables across the UK, so it’s great to see that Brits are planning to embrace their culinary creativity and explore new recipes and flavour pairings.
“With shoppers experimenting this year, we were inspired to do the same. Our newly developed Sprout Nog offers a truly unique way of enjoying the Christmas vegetable, and we’re calling on shoppers to determine the future of this cocktail creation, so head over to our Instagram and Facebook posts to have your say.”
According to Aldi, Gloucester has the “bougiest” sprouts, topping them with pancetta, chestnuts or a drizzle of maple syrup. Cambridge residents add a little bit of chocolate, and those in Peterborough enjoy the vegetable with gochujang.
To vote in favour of the drink coming to stores, consumers have to like the brand’s post on Facebook or Instagram.
