Because of Brexit, companies need to review how they transfer personal data to the UK
The transitional period for the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union ended on 31 December. This will also have a significant impact on data protection from 1 January, with different rules for the transfer of personal data than before Brexit, the international law firm Baker McKenzie points out.
The statement of the European Data Protection Board (EDPS) issued on 15 December 2020 points out that the end of the transitional period means that from 1 January 2021, the UK will no longer apply the GDPR, but its own legislation on the processing of personal data. (Somogyi Tamás)
