BMW sales in Hungary increased by 24.5 percent in the first quarter
BMW Group Hungary increased BMW brand sales by 24.5 percent in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year; Between January and March, 1,870 new BMWs were sold in Hungary, with the Bavarian brand maintaining its leading position in the domestic premium segment, the company informed MTI in a statement.
It was emphasized that demand for purely electric models remains stable: 12.4 percent of the vehicles sold by BMW were purely electric in the first quarter.
The statement quotes Zoltán Gombos, Managing Director of BMW Group Hungary, who emphasized that their portfolio is able to serve the needs “across” all powertrains and segments.
He mentioned that the reception of the first Neue Klasse model, the iX3 produced in Debrecen, exceeded all expectations: the factory has already started the second shift in recent weeks in order to satisfy customer needs as soon as possible. Following the market launch in March, more than 50 iX3 models, manufactured in Debrecen and setting the direction of BMW’s future, were handed over to customers, he added.
He indicated that sales are expected to be boosted by further new products arriving during the year, including the recently introduced new BMW i3.

This makes BMW the leading player in the premium segment for the third year in a row, where its share increased to 34.1 percent by the end of the year from 29.4 percent in 2024.
In Hungary, the premium segment accounted for 15 percent of the 129,440 passenger cars sold in 2025.
