One of the best-known players in the Hungarian wholesale market for organic, reform and health-conscious products has reached a significant milestone: Bijó Élelmiszer Kereskedelmi Kft. officially became a 100% owned subsidiary of the Hungaropharma Group on July 3, 2025.

With the transaction, Bijó not only gained a stable background, but also significant growth potential. The company aims to strengthen its reseller service with the corporate tools and strategy provided by Hungaropharma: this includes expanding the product range, introducing new convenience services and further developing logistics processes. The company currently has relationships with around 3,000 retail partners across the country.

“The successful completion of the transaction is an important milestone in the implementation of Hungaropharma’s non-pharma strategy,” emphasized Judit Füzesi, CEO of Hungaropharma Gyógyszerkereskedelmi Zrt. As he said, the group aims to become a dominant player in the ever-expanding market of health-conscious lifestyles and to more actively support health preservation through the professional distribution of related products.

According to Bijó’s Managing Director, Balázs Bolyki, the background provided by Hungaropharma will bring benefits to the company’s operations in the short term as well. “As a dominant market player, we will be able to lead the growth in the industry and raise our services to the highest level,” he said.

Bijó opened its nearly 3,000 m² store in 2014, where it offers a selection of more than 15,000 organic, reform and medicinal products. In addition to wholesale activities, they also serve the public, in their store and through their webshop, where they provide free delivery throughout Hungary for purchases over 15,000 forints.

In 2024, the company already had a 20% market share in the organic, reform and medicinal products market and won the MagyarBrands award twice – in 2022 and 2024.
