The professional background of bottle deposit
The amount of illegally dumped waste in Hungary reaches an estimated 100 tons per year, while about 10 thousand tons of garbage is flowing accross the country through the river Tisza. It is no wonder, that more and more people believe, that there is a desperate need to change and develop the waste management practices and methods.
The success of the TeSzedd! (YouPick it up!) action shows that (illegal mass equal to the weight 50 electric locomotives was collected), there is a strong need to eliminate illegal disposal sites, as well as to become more aware to waste separation and recycling. The deposit system is designed to increase environmental awareness, and to significantly reduce the amount of municipal household waste. It is envisaged that after the introduction of the deposit system the population could return the glass and PET bottles, aluminum and metal beverage packagings without problems.
