Barion acquires ownership of the company operating OkosKassza
Barion has been present mainly in online purchases, but now a new chapter in the company’s life begins: the Hungarian payment service provider is entering the offline world as well. Okokassza (PSC CEE Kft.) and Barion together serve more than twenty thousand merchants in the Central and Eastern European region, and they will soon have access to an integrated online and offline terminal payment solution through a single service provider, with simpler, more transparent processes.
Following the closing of the transaction, Barion will become the 100% owner of PSC CEE Kft., thus the Okokassza brand and related solutions will also be transferred to the Barion group. Okokassza is already well-known among retailers and caterers with its electronic cash registers and card terminal solutions. The two companies will continue to operate within the Barion group of companies, thus creating a comprehensive payment acceptance system that handles both online and in-store payments. The acquisition, which has been in preparation for several months, has already been approved by the Hungarian National Bank.
A modern experience for customers and simpler operation for merchants
Customers will be able to encounter a modern, fast and reliable in-store payment solution that offers the familiar Barion payment experience. Merchants will be able to manage online and offline payments in one hand, in a unified system, which means more transparent processes, more efficient operation and lower administrative burdens in the long term.
Connecting two leaders and two worlds
The transaction is not only a milestone from a business perspective, but is also noteworthy for the connection of professional knowledge. Tamás Molnár, CEO of PSC CEE Kft., has become a recognized player in the offline payments market, with significant regional experience. Sándor Kiss, CEO of Barion, has held a decisive expert position in the field of online payments over the past decade. With expertise in both areas, Barion can build on knowledge that will provide a competitive advantage in the region in the long term.
“This transaction is an important milestone for Barion. It is also a decisive step on a strategic level, so that we can be prominently present in the world of in-store payments with the Okokassza solution. Our goal is to provide customers with a uniform, transparent and convenient payment experience across all payment channels, while providing merchants with simpler and more efficient processes. We are particularly pleased that Tamás, a professional with significant international experience, is joining our management team,”
said Sándor Kiss, CEO of Barion.
