The economic and cultural effects of Balaton Sound
According to a survey among the festival visitors of Balaton Sound, more than two-third of the visitors travelled to the site because of the event. After 2007 and 2008, the festival is waiting its visitors between 9 and 12 July this year.
The number of visitors tripled in 2008, while Heineken became the official sponsor of Balaton Sound. The festival attracted mostly domestic visitors, but many people came from Germany and from the neighboring countries. More than half of the domestic visitors came from Budapest and Pest County. In 2008-nearly two-third of the visitors came from an university or college, with an average age of 24 years, which is higher than the average of the other festivals. Festival visitors spent nearly 30 000 commercial accommodation nights in Zamárdi and other settlement beside Lake Balaton – reports Híradó Online.
