Lake Balaton and blue grapes
“Nowadays consumers are looking for really high quality, lighter red wines that emphasise fruitiness instead of tannins”, says Antal Benesch, head winemaker of Veszprémi Érseki Winery. White wines have become more popular, while red wine production has decreased by 25% worldwide since the record year of 2004. However, owing to the climate change, several experts predict that the Lake Balaton wine region – traditionally a white wine region – will be better for growing blue grapes. //
