One and a half million people traveled on Bahart flights this year
The turnover of the ships of Bahart (Balatoni Hajózási Zrt.) has been the same this year as last summer: the number of passengers on ferries reached 1 million, and passenger traffic on passenger ships exceeded half a million – Gábor Veigl, the company’s CEO, told MTI on Thursday.
The company announced in a statement: the ferry between Szántód and Tihany was chosen by 8 percent more people compared to the year before the virus epidemic, compared to 2019 until August 15 this year, and passenger traffic on passenger ships increased by 6 percent.
Ferries transported more than 85,000 bicycles until mid-August, which is an 8 percent increase compared to the same period last year, and 21 percent more people traveled with bicycles on passenger ships than at this time last year.
The announcement highlights that the last week was the busiest week of the year for the company. On Saturday, August 12, the ferries transported more than 18,000 passengers and nearly 5,000 vehicles. In passenger shipping, peak numbers were measured on July 27, with nearly 18,000 passengers. During the high season, which runs until August 27, the program ships continue to play a prominent role, of which Bahart launched more this year: the magic ships offering children’s programs have so far been used by 6,000 guests, and more than 15,000 have had fun on the party boats.
