Consumers would also benefit from the 17 percent meat VAT reduction
The farmers and the food industry trade associations have long been trying to reach to reduce the VAT on meet products that is the highest in Europe.
Due to the expected decline in prices, an increase would occur in consumption. That would reduce the competitive disadvantage of domestic farmers and the food industry. In addition the black economy (that has an estimated 30-80 percent ratio in the sector) would also be repressed. (by our colleague)
