95 million in aid from Tesco employees and customers to those in need in one and a half months
The country’s largest fundraising team is supporting the Ecumenical Relief Organization’s year-round work to help those in need with HUF 95 million. The amount was raised from donation coupons sold in Tesco during the Advent fundraiser that ended on December 31, 2024, which the department store chain joined for the 15th time.
During the campaign, customers purchased a total of more than 380,000 coupons in the department store chain’s stores, which is a 15 percent increase over the previous year, which was one of the most outstanding since the beginning of the cooperation between Tesco and the Relief Organization.
Tesco has been participating in the Ecumenical Aid Society’s Advent Fundraiser for a decade and a half, during which the chain’s customers were able to purchase HUF 250 donation coupons at checkouts and self-service checkouts to support those in need between November 18 and December 31, 2024.
This time, more money was collected during the campaign than the record donation a year earlier, as customers purchased coupons worth HUF 95 million. This amount exceeds the results of the 2023 campaign by 15 percent, so the Ecumenical Aid Society can support even more needy families throughout its year-round work.
“It seems that 15 is a magic number. This is the 15th time we have participated in the Aid Organization’s Advent charity campaign, and we managed to increase the value of the donation by 15 percent. I would like to thank our customers for thinking of those in need during their holiday shopping, and I would like to thank our colleagues who worked enthusiastically to make such a successful campaign possible through the power of collaboration!”
– said Nóra Hevesi, Head of Communications at Tesco Hungary.
