800 disadvantaged children participated in MBH Bank’s anniversary Christmas Children’s Gala at the Opera House
The International Children’s Rescue Service and MBH Bank organized their joint Christmas Children’s Gala for the 30th time on December 21st at the Hungarian State Opera House. The festive matinee performance was attended by 800 children living in difficult financial circumstances from Hungary and abroad, from a total of 35 institutions. The children were able to watch Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, which has been one of the most beloved joint Christmas gifts of MBH Bank and the Children’s Rescue for three decades now. The unmissable program of the Advent period has provided an unforgettable experience for almost 27 thousand children since its inception. 24 ambassadors accredited to Budapest were also invited to the fairy tale ballet from the countries that formed the Street of Nations on the Children’s Day in the City Park in May.
The Hungarian State Opera House hosted the jubilee Children’s Gala this year as well. The guests came from rural towns, villages and the capital, but many children also visited Budapest from across the border: from Slovakia, Székelyföld, Csángóföld, Vojvodina and Oradea. The main roles at the matinee performance on December 21 were danced by Yakovleva Maria (Princess Mary), Marmus Auguste (The Nutcracker, Prince), Kóbor Demeter (Drosselmeier) and Radziush Mikalai (Mouse King). The conductor was Sámuel Csaba Tóth.
“The Christmas Children’s Gala has accompanied the Advent period for thirty years, and has now become a natural part of MBH Bank’s festive role. It is good to see that this cooperation brings joy to the children year after year and becomes a shared experience for them. The anniversary occasion is a confirmation for us that attention and continuity give a tangible and followable direction to our social role in the long term”
– highlighted István Kutas, MBH Bank’s Managing Director of Communications and Marketing.
The participating children followed the performance with great interest, many of whom were visiting the Hungarian State Opera House for the first time in their lives, and several were visiting Budapest for the first time. The accompanying programs related to the performance included face painting, balloon folding, and meeting Santa Claus.
At the end of the program, with the support of MBH Bank, the children received backpacks full of gifts, which included fruit, bagels, sweets, savory pastries, and fiber-rich soft drinks.
The organizers took care of the participants’ travel, accommodation, and meals.
