8 million bottles of spirits and 225 cash machines await customers
Tesco has prepared 8 million bottles and cans of alcoholic drinks for the end of the year festive season, including high-quality and affordable Finest wines and champagnes, as well as unique, gift-boxed drinks available exclusively at the chain. Tesco is also ensuring that claiming the refund of the drink packaging exchange fee is as smooth as shopping in person or online: 225 machines operate in its 148 stores, using which more than 100 million plastic and glass bottles and aluminum cans have been exchanged so far. The refund can be redeemed in any Tesco store, but the company is also leading the way in charitable donations.
1.4 million bottles of champagne, 1 million bottles of wine, 6.5 million beers and 1.5 million bottles of other spirits, i.e. a total of 8 million alcoholic drinks are available on the shelves of Tesco stores and online. This is how the department store chain is preparing for the Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations. In addition to the St. Andrea, Takler and Lajvér wines in gift boxes, the range also includes its own brand of mulled wines and excellent value-for-money Tesco Finest wines and sparkling wines. The latter include Finest Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Finest Prosecco DOC in white and rosé versions, and Finest LBV Port liqueur wine. Other sparkling wines include sweeter-tasting Asti Martini and Törley tank sparkling wines (Charmant Doux, Muskotály, Fortuna), as well as dry sparkling wines aged in bottles (Kreinbacher, Sauska, Moet). In addition, the range also includes several types of rum, gin, whisky and liqueur packaged with gift items or in gift boxes, which can only be purchased at Tesco.
The department store chain is also prepared for the large number of bottle returns expected during and after the festive period. There are 225 machines and 969 drop-off points in 148 stores for reclaiming the deposit fees, through which more than 100 million drinks packaging have been redeemed so far. Three-quarters of the machines operating at Tesco contain 3-7 collection cabinets, each of which can store 1,000 PET or aluminum bottles and 200-400 single-use bottles. This means that around 850,000 deposit-fee drinks packaging are returned to Tesco every day.
