Coca-Cola Co. reporting a 79 percent increase in fourth-quarter net income
World's largest beverage company's profit growth to $1.2 billion.
Along with the jump in fourth-quarter net income, revenue in the
final quarter was up 24 percent to $7.3 billion. The company said the
results reflect strength in international operations, which had 7%
growth in the quarter, while North America posted a 1% rise. Coke
said it saw double-digit unit case volume growth in certain emerging
markets, such as China, India, Brazil, Southern Eurasia and the
Middle East. It added that Latin America and Africa were 'solid' for
the quarter with growth of 10% and 7% respectively, while the
European Union posted an increase of 2%.
