Tesco donated 6700 tons of food to the needy in 2018
Last year, Tesco donated more than 6700 tons of food to people in need through the partner organizations of the Hungarian Food Banking Association. The supermarket chain has been running its daily food-saving program since 2014. Since its start, it has offered over 10,400 tonnes of food for charitable purposes, which amounts to more than 26 million doses.
Combating against food waste is a priority for Tesco. As a socially responsible company, it is working to keep reducing its surplus during its operations, and also fighting against the food waste with numerous tools already, including a store-based food saver program and with the Perfectly Imperfect product supply.
