The Complaints Act obliges 65,000 companies in Budapest to operate an abuse reporting system from December
The amendment to the Law on Complaints, also referred to as the Complaints Act, will enter into force in December, obliging a significant number of Hungarian businesses to establish channels that provide the opportunity to report internal abuses and irregularities. Ensuring this is not only an administrative burden for the businesses involved, but also requires serious expertise. The Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK) offers companies a service that ensures the introduction and operation of the notification system, which was presented to interested parties at a joint information day with the chamber’s partners.
On the joint information day of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKIK) and the National Association of Hungarian Real Estate Agents (MIOSZ), with the participation of experts from the Hungarian Bar Association (MÜK), they provided information to the companies concerned about how they can comply with the obligations affecting them while also complying with data protection rules , which the XXV. of 2023. law imposes on them. The legislation, which entered into force on July 24, 2023, affects employers covered by the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism (Pmt), and those with at least 50 employees from December 17, 2023 – this means about 65,000 businesses in Budapest alone.
At the event, the experts drew particular attention to the fact that it may be difficult to ensure impartiality for smaller businesses covered by the law, so the use of an external commissioned organization should be considered. In addition to the administrative obligations so far, employers also have additional ones that require legal expertise and which a professional service provider can take off their shoulders. In this way, businesses really only experience the benefits of the system and can turn their attention to improving the operation of the organization.
