Investments decreased by 6.3%
In the fourth quarter of 2022, the volume of investments decreased by 6.3%, after a 5.2% increase in the previous quarter, while it decreased by 5.5% compared to the previous quarter, seasonally adjusted. The decrease in the volume of investments was caused by the decreasing investment activity of the budget, households and enterprises. The continued strong expansion of investments in the manufacturing industry, which has a decisive weight, somewhat offset the decline in investments. In 2022, the volume of investments increased by 1% overall, while this year we expect a decline of 5-6%.
Within investments, construction investments, representing nearly two-thirds of the performance value, decreased by 6.6%, and machinery and equipment investments, representing nearly one-third, decreased by 5.5%. Within machine investments, the volume of imported machines as well as domestically produced machines decreased. The volume of developments in enterprises employing at least 50 people, which realized more than half of the investment performance, decreased by 2.7%. At the same time, at the budgetary bodies that realized 12% of the investments, the developments decreased significantly, by 28.4%, due, among other things, to the decline in projects financed by EU funds. Compared to the 2015 average, investments increased by 54.3%, and compared to 2010, they increased by 90.4% – that is, they almost doubled.
