Wolt fined 60 million for occupational safety violations
The Budapest Metropolitan Government Office has revealed serious occupational safety deficiencies at several locations of Wolt Services Hungary Kft., as a result of which the authority has imposed a fine of 60 million forints on the courier company, the Ministry of National Economy announced.
During the inspections, several irregularities were documented that directly endanger the physical safety of employees. The reports include the lack of protective equipment, improperly fixed shelves, uninsulated electrical wires, and improper storage of hazardous materials.
The authority also found that the personal conditions for providing first aid did not meet the requirements, so the safety of employees was not guaranteed in several points.
In addition to imposing the fine, the government office obliged Wolt to take immediate action and called on the company to immediately eliminate the irregularities discovered.
The case draws attention to the occupational safety risks of the operation of rapidly growing courier companies and to the fact that, in addition to the dynamic expansion of the delivery market, ensuring regular and safe working conditions is an essential requirement.
