IKEA closed the 2023 fiscal year with a 5.7 percent increase
Today, Ingka Group announced an IKEA retail turnover of EUR 41.7 billion[i] for the 2023 financial year[ii], which represents an increase of 5.7 percent compared to last year (EUR 39.5 billion in FY 2022 year). Building on an 80-year heritage, the company’s goal remains to make everyday life more beautiful and IKEA more accessible, affordable and sustainable to make people’s dreams and visions of living at home come true.
The past period was influenced by many external factors, including the pandemic and the uncertain economic and geopolitical situation, but the Ingka Group still keeps IKEA’s goal of creating better everyday life for the majority of people in mind. Thanks to the expansion of interior design inspiration and the acceleration of investments in digital, new and existing stores, store visits increased by 7 percent, and the online share increased to 26 percent (in fiscal year 2022 it was 25 percent). In the last few weeks of the new financial year, the company has continued to work to reduce its prices as much as possible, and it intends to do so in the coming months for a number of products in various markets.
“Life at home has become more important than ever, and we continue to be driven by the goal of making people’s dreams and visions come true. During the year, we invested in our business interests and also took steps to reduce absolute carbon emissions to protect the planet that is home to all of us. It’s amazing how IKEA employees turn customers’ requests into reality and build closer relationships with them, contributing to our goal and helping to realize life at home as a real partner. Although I am optimistic about the future, we must prepare for the road ahead to be bumpy”
– said Jesper Brodin, CEO of the Ingka Group.
