4.6 percent turnover decline in retail sales
The retail sales volume – adjusted from calendary day effect – decreased by 4.6 percent, in the first quarter of 2010 and in March by 4.0 percent, compared to the same periods of last year – reports the Central Statistical Office.
In the national retail and mail order retail, in the first quarter of 2010, 1557 billion HUF worth goods were distributed, of which 582 billion was realized in March. The 47 percent of the retail sales was food, 17 percent was fuel, 12 percent were furniture, household goods, construction materials, and 24 percent of the purchasings occured in other type of stores.
