The festive fundraising campaign of PENNY Hungary and the Hungarian Red Cross was successfully completed this year as well. On November 15 and 16, thanks to customers in nearly 160 PENNY stores across the country, approximately 43 tons of donations were collected, which included non-perishable food, sweets, and cleaning and hygiene products. The Hungarian Red Cross distributes the donated products among those in need within its scope.

Every year, the Hungarian Red Cross pays special attention to ensuring that families living in poverty can spend the holidays in cozy conditions and without deprivation. The aim of the collection is to provide assistance to families in need as Christmas approaches. PENNY has joined this initiative for the past four years and is committed to supporting the collection in 2024 as well, so that as many donations as possible can reach those in need.

“We are pleased to see that a record amount of donations were collected this year during the joint campaign with the Hungarian Red Cross. Supporting those in need is important to PENNY Hungary, and it is a special pleasure for us to be able to do this with the involvement of our customers. PENNY regularly donates products to civil organizations, schools, kindergartens, and we have food rescue programs throughout the year, in which we offer near-expiry food to charitable organizations,”

– said Eszter Kazatsay, Head of Communications at PENNY Hungary.

“The Hungarian Red Cross has been helping members of Hungarian society in need for 143 years. We are happy to welcome any supporter who participates as a partner in helping those in need. According to our preliminary estimates, the donations collected during the joint campaign will help approximately 10,000 people in need during the holiday season,”

– added Judit Waller-Fekete, Head of Social Affairs at the Hungarian Red Cross.
