Production prices down 3.8 percent in agriculture
In September 2016 agricultural production prices reduced by 3.8 percent from the level of September 2015 – reported the Central Statistical Office (KSH). This drop was driven by the price of vegetable products decreasing by 7.3 percent. Livestock/products of animal origin prices augmented by 2.1 percent from the base period level.
Compared with September 2015, the price of cereal crops dropped 9.6 percent. Wheat’s price was down 18 percent and corn’s price fell 3.7 percent. Fruits cost 5.8 percent less and the price of vegetables decreased by 8.5 percent. Livestock’s production price increased by 3.2 percent.
