This year's wheat crop may be 3.5 – 4 million tonnes
From a little more than one million hectares of production area, 3.5 to 4 million tons of wheat harvest is expected in the country – said Czerván György, agri state secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development (VM).
The Secretary was interviewed in Budapest, after the meeting of the National Coordinating Committee for Harvest. He explained: this quantity of wheat, covers the country's bread grain needs and it is also expected that a part of the quantity may remain to export.
The average yield per hectare is 3.6 tons. A total of about 190 thousand hectares were harvested – reports Népszabadság Online.
