The average net monthly salary in 2022 remained below HUF 300,000
According to NAV data, in 2022 the average monthly salary (income from employment) was HUF 418,000 gross, which meant HUF 285,000 net per month (including benefits).
This is lower compared to HUF 332.5 thousand calculated by the KSH, which is the figure for full-time employees. According to settlement type, the highest average monthly net income was in Budapest (HUF 370 thousand), followed by county towns (HUF 304 thousand), followed by cities (HUF 273 thousand), and the lowest value was in villages (HUF 243 thousand) . This means that employees in Budapest earn on average 22% more than a city employee with county rights, 36% more than a city employee and 52% more than a village employee.
