Tetra Pak’s factory in Budaörs is 30 years old
Tetra Pak’s Hungarian factory is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and at the same time, the inauguration of their new printing press.
In honor of the anniversary, the company organized a celebration in Budaörs, at which Peter Kortsmit, director of the Budaörs factory, and Dmitrij Smolin, vice president of the EMEA region, revived the joint successes of the past years and thanked the employees for their work. Dag Hartelius, Ambassador of Sweden, and Tamás Wittinghoff, Mayor of Budaörs also spoke at the event.
Tetra Pak was founded in Sweden in 1951 with the aim of creating packaging that is affordable, yet modern and safe, making safe food accessible to everyone. Thanks to his successful vision, the family-owned Tetra Pak has grown to become one of the world’s leading food processing and packaging solutions companies.
The company, which previously produced only for the dairy industry, has since made available consumers’ favorite fruit and vegetable juices and herbal drinks in Tetra Pak packaging, and even mineral water packed in Tetra Pak drinking cartons, which are now available on more and more markets. With the development of Tetra Recart’s innovative packaging material, thanks to its structure, they can now also provide packaging for vegetables, soups, sauces, ready meals, fruits and pet food.
With its innovative solutions, Tetra Pak protects not only its consumers, but also nature. Its packaging is recyclable, mainly made from renewable raw materials, the wood fibers processed during production come from FSC-certified forests and other controlled sources. The closing elements made of sugarcane-based plastic available on some products and certain cardboard layers also contribute to climate protection.
The foundation stone of the Hungarian factory was laid in 1989 in Budaörs. Not much later, in 1992, production started in the 18,350 m2 factory, from which approximately 2.5 billion packages are currently exported to 54 countries around the world.
At the site, which currently has more than 500 employees, they work every day to provide innovative and sustainable packaging for their customers and consumers.
The importance of the plant is clearly shown by the fact that the revolutionary Tetra Recart carton is supplied worldwide exclusively by the Tetra Pak factory in Budaörs.
…and its actual launch On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, Tetra Pak inaugurated its new printing press, which provides a 20% increase in capacity in the field of printing, thus helping efficiency. Thanks to the automated quality control equipment, customer satisfaction will also increase, and thanks to the new machine, energy consumption and the amount of production and technological waste will also decrease, and the automatic paint handling system will ensure more ergonomic work.
