GLS Hungary closes the year with 2,500 package delivery points
Over the past few years, consumer demand for flexible handling of ordered packages has been steadily increasing, and in response to this, package logistics service providers are intensively developing their delivery point networks. Based on data from GLS Hungary, this year online customers already requested every 5th package to delivery points. In order for GLS to be able to serve these needs with its usual quality, this year it significantly developed its network and by the middle of the Christmas season, on December 15, 2023, it put its 2,500th transfer point into operation.
As the number of online purchases increases, package handling preferences are also changing. Despite the fact that the vast majority of parcels are still requested for home delivery, the role of delivery points – parcel machines and parcel points – is becoming increasingly crucial in the field of e-commerce and parcel logistics. These points create such flexibility in package handling, thanks to which the sending and receiving of packages can be customized both in terms of time and location, and everyone can find the solution that best suits them.
