2,325 kilometers in the fight against breast cancer: Groupama Insurance raised donations by running
A Budapest-Paris round trip: enthusiastic supporters ran a distance nearly equivalent to this, so Groupama Insurance is supporting the fight against breast cancer with a total donation of 500,000 forints. During the multi-week, multi-platform campaign announced in the spirit of Pink October, the company’s employees and fans of Groupama Aréna collected kilometers by running to convert them into donations and thus support the Bridge to Health Solidarity for Health Foundation.
The aim of Groupama Biztosító’s activity is to draw attention to the importance of regular breast cancer screening and early detection.
“This is not the first time that our company has actively participated in the fight against breast cancer. In the spirit of solidarity and health, we proudly joined this important cause this year as well, and as a committed supporter of sport, it was natural for us to involve colleagues and fans by utilizing its community-building power. Our parent company, the French Groupama and subsidiaries participate with their teams in the La Parisienne running race every year, which also focuses on women’s health and draws attention to the importance of the fight against breast cancer, so we are also involved in this topic. This year, for the first time, Hungarian colleagues were also represented at the three-day event in Paris, so this can be considered a precursor to our campaign this year”
– said András Koháry, Communication and PR Director of Groupama Biztosító.
The initiative was launched on September 19th in the Groupama Arena: during the Ferencváros–Diósgyőr match, two treadmills awaited the fans to collect kilometers for a good cause. The activity was attended by 75 runners – mainly families, including the youngest a 4-year-old girl.
In the spirit of Pink October, the insurance company also continued its fundraising within the company. Members of the company’s Running Club and other colleagues have been running together since the beginning of October: some took part in the challenge with a marathon relay team, others with shorter distances. During the month, 41 employees put on their running shoes: together with the fans, they completed a total of 2,325 kilometers, which is almost twice the distance from Budapest to Paris. The insurance company converts the kilometers traveled into forints at a “200 exchange rate”, and the donation rounded up to 500,000 forints is offered to the Health Bridge Coalition Against Breast Cancer .
“Our best-known activity every year is the Bridge Walk on the pink-lit Chain Bridge. We also draw attention to the importance of screening and early detection in many other ways, for example, we organized a conference in the afternoon before the walk, at which lectures and roundtable discussions were held on breast cancer. We consider it important that we do not talk about this topic just once a year, so we particularly appreciate any initiative and donation that contributes to our work”
– said Edit Báródi, secretary of the Health Bridge Coalition Against Breast Cancer Association.
Groupama Insurance also made a video about the campaign, which captures the solidarity of supporters and employees who stand up for the cause, and also shows the sincere support for the cause and enthusiastic participation from an exciting POV perspective. The short film also calls on viewers to support the above organization if they have the opportunity. The video can be seen here.
