For large domestic companies, the year 2026 will no longer be about continuous adaptation, but rather about a return to a predictable growth path. The expected pick-up in investments, the stabilizing macroeconomic background, and the strengthening of financial discipline may together create favorable conditions for companies. In corporate financial planning, instead of survival strategies, the emphasis may shift back to medium- and long-term developments, accelerating digitalization, and increasing competitiveness by 2026.

“In 2026, uncertainty will probably finally dictate the pace, not the pace of survival, but conscious foresight. In recent years, everyone has switched to survival mode, but now trends are emerging that allow multi-year investment programs to be restarted. These include, for example, declining global inflationary pressure, a more predictable interest rate environment that is also favorable to lending, and more stable energy prices compared to the past two years. The correction of the economic environment, the increasing role of investments, and the improvement of financeability can together help large companies plan better for the new year”

– explained Bodor Tibor, Head of K&H’s Large Corporate Division.

“Modernization and digitalization represent a real competitive advantage today, as they enable more efficient operation with the same energy expenditure,” he added. “Large corporations have been waiting in the past, but in 2026, several investments may be implemented, the short-term positive effects of which will be noticeable soon. Companies see that those who develop now can gain an advantage over regional competitors for years to come.”

“The financial discipline of companies is much stronger today than in the years before the Russian-Ukrainian conflict,” the expert emphasized. “Companies have learned to strictly manage costs, have built a stable cash-flow position, and are managing risks much more consciously, which is a clear positive result of the challenges of recent years.”

“Overall, 2026 could be a year of restructuring and the start of a new growth cycle for large companies,” said Tibor Bodor. “Those who plan consciously now will not only survive the changes, but will also be able to face the coming years from a stronger, more stable position.”
