Wage growth in the IT sector continued in 2024, both domestically and internationally, and it will be no different next year

The salary trends experienced in the IT sector will continue to show growth in 2024, both in Hungary and internationally. The salary of Hungarian IT specialists has increased compared to the previous year, depending on the level of expertise and experience, a salary increase of up to 10-15% can be observed. The trend continues at the international level, due to the high demand, the salaries of qualified IT professionals have remained competitive worldwide, especially for professionals who are proficient in advanced technologies and specialize in cloud-based solutions.

Bluebird International Zrt. has been preparing the Bluebird IT Salary Guide every year for 5 years. According to the latest data from this year’s publication, the salaries of people working in the IT sector in Budapest show an increase. The report presents in detail the current gross salaries of IT professionals according to job roles, technological knowledge and experience levels, emphasizing that senior positions offer particularly competitive salaries, up to over HUF 2.5 million – according to Bluebird’s 2024 IT market overview.

IT managers and Machine Learning specialists earned the most this year

In the case of IT managers in senior-level positions, the annual gross salaries range from HUF 1.7 million to HUF 2.5 million. The gross salary of an IT Development Manager responsible for the management and coordination of software development projects is between HUF 1.65 million and HUF 2.4 million, while an IT Security Manager with complex technological and security knowledge and responsible for the development and implementation of the organization’s IT security strategy earns up to HUF 2.5 you can earn HUF million.

The gross salaries of software developers are also high: a Java developer at a senior level can expect a salary between HUF 1.6 million and HUF 2 million, while a FullStack developer dealing with both frontend and backend tasks can reach up to HUF 2 million. Python developers in the senior category can reach the limit of HUF 2.2 million.

The wages of Data Scientists responsible for the collection, analysis and interpretation of data and Machine Learning engineers specializing in the development and implementation of algorithms that learn from data also increased dynamically: a Machine Learning specialist at a senior level can expect a gross salary of up to HUF 2.6 million. DevOps engineers, especially those using cloud-based technologies, also receive a high salary: they can reach HUF 2.4 million at the senior level.
