In 2024, cyber security incidents will pose the biggest business risk around the world
According to Allianz’s Risk Barometer, cybersecurity incidents such as ransomware attacks, data security breaches and IT disruptions will be the top business risk for companies around the world in 2024. The cyber threat already tops the rankings this year.
In second place is the threat closely related to cyber risks, the interruption of business continuity. Both risks lead the ranking of the Allianz Risk Barometer for the third year in a row. In the global top ten list, compared to the previous year, the following sources of danger have made the most progress this year: natural disasters (from 6th place last year to 3rd place this year), fire and explosion (jumped from 9th place to 6th place), and political risks and acts of violence (moved from 10th place to 8th place).
The Allianz Risk Barometer was prepared by the insurance company for the 13th time this year. Allianz’s survey includes the opinions of a record number of 3,069 risk management experts from 92 countries and territories, including CEOs, risk managers, brokers and insurance experts. The Allianz Risk Barometer is an annual ranking that lists the most important business risks affecting companies.
In this year’s Allianz Risk Barometer, the main risks and the biggest movers reflect all the business difficulties that companies are currently facing: the rise of digitalization, climate change and the uncertain geopolitical environment.
