Penny Market is soon to open its 200th store
Penny Market’s first store in Hungary opened on 6 June 1996 and it currently operates 191 units. Penny Market has 60 popular private label products. According to market researchers, the company’s turnover was HUF 170 billion in 2012. Penny Market has 2,660 employees in Hungary. Last year parent company the Rewe Group won an award from EuroCIS and the EHI Retail Institute for the outstanding development of its retail technology. Since April 2012 Penny Market has been using environmentally friendly paper for printing its promotional leaflets in Hungary, using 30 percent less base material than before.
