Egg prices rose by 20 percent in a year
According to European Commission data, the packing house price of table eggs in the EU was 240 euros/100 kilograms in the first eight weeks of 2025, which was a 6.5 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to KSH data, Hungary purchased almost 31 thousand tons of shell eggs from the international market in 2024 (–14 percent compared to the same period of the previous year), within which it imported almost the same amount as the previous year, 20.7 thousand tons of fresh eggs. Shell egg exports decreased by 4 percent to 11.3 thousand tons, of which fresh egg exports accounted for 1.3 tons (–16 percent) in 2024.
Egg prices have risen at Hungary
According to AKI PÁIR data, the packing house price of caged table eggs (M+L) in Hungary was 64.53 forints/piece in the first eight weeks of 2025, which exceeded the average price of the same period in 2024 by 20.8 percent. The packing house price of M size class, boxed eggs increased by almost 20 percent to 66.79 forints/piece, and that of L size class, boxed eggs by 15.7 percent to 78.64 forints/piece. The packing house price of M tray eggs increased by 22.3 percent to 58.57 forints/piece, and that of L tray eggs by 19.6 percent to 64.57 forints/piece. The packinghouse price of table eggs (M+L) from deep-litter farming was 71.11 forints/piece in the first eight weeks of 2025, which is 13.8 percent higher than the average price for the same period in 2024.
