Milk price increased by 19 percent in Hungary in one year

The producer price of raw milk, expressed in national currency, increased by 18 percent in New Zealand in July 2025, by 14 percent in the European Union, while it decreased by 9 percent in the USA compared to the same month of the previous year.

According to AKI PÁIR data, the national average producer price of raw milk in Hungary was 198.67 forints/kilogram in August 2025. Despite the improvement in fat content by 0.05 percentage points, protein content by 0.04 percentage points, and the stagnation of the base price, the average price of raw milk did not change significantly in August 2025 compared to July 2025, but increased by 19 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The purchase of raw milk in August 2025 was essentially the same as the previous month, while it exceeded that of August 2024 by 6 percent. The export price of raw milk was 202.13 forints/kilogram in August 2025, 3 percent lower than the previous month, while 2 percent higher than the same month of the previous year. The export price was 2 percent higher than the average producer price. According to AKI PÁIR data, raw milk shipments decreased by 10 percent in August 2025 compared to a year earlier.
