Gösser is 150 years old
This June Gösser brewery celebrated its 150th birthday in Leoben. In the picturesque valley where the brewery is located people appeared wearing lederhosen and other traditional garments. Leoben is a university town and in the Göss Abbey monks started brewing beer 550 years ago. Max Kober from Graz only founded the brewery in 1860 – today they make 110,000 bottles of beer per hour and with its 700-hectolitre capacity this is the biggest brewery in Austria.
