15 percent more new agricultural machinery sold in the first half
The agricultural machinery market is undergoing a significant transformation worldwide – and Hungary is no exception – which is also influenced by technological development, weather extremes, and changes in support systems. In the first months of 2025, agricultural machinery sales started at a slower pace. Due to the difficulties of recent years – drought, low crop prices, the Russian-Ukrainian war, and the development of the interest rate environment – the purchasing power and willingness of Hungarian farmers to purchase machinery is lower than before.

The turnover of new machinery increased by 15 percent until June this year compared to the first half of 2024, and spare parts sales increased by 28 percent. Individual farms and joint ventures purchased new agricultural machinery and equipment worth 102.6 billion forints by June this year, which is a 15 percent increase compared to the first half of 2024, but a 42 percent decrease compared to sales two years earlier. In addition to the sale of new machinery, which depends on the availability of support funds, the sale of parts has been continuously increasing in recent years. Farmers spent 52.4 billion forints on the purchase of parts necessary for the operation and repair of machinery by June this year, which is a 28 percent increase compared to the base period. Agricultural producers spent 46.2 billion forints on the purchase of power machinery in the January-June 2025 period, which accounted for 45 percent of the total value of agricultural machinery investments. Within the power plant investments, tractors represented 52 percent and grain combines 29 percent, while within the total sales, tractors represented 23 percent and grain combines 13 percent.
