ALDI is celebrating its 15th anniversary
ALDI Magyarország Élelmiszer Bt is celebrating its anniversary. As a subsidiary of the ALDI SÜD group, the company opened its first five stores in Hungary 15 years ago in Debrecen, Gyula, Nyíregyháza, Pécs and Piliscsaba. ALDI’s domestic network now consists of a total of 164 stores in 87 settlements in 19 counties across the country. The store chain thus ensures the supply of the Hungarian population with high-quality and consistently affordable food and non-food products.
In 2022, the company made HUF 20 billion investments in Hungary, while over 15 years this value is more than HUF 240 billion. Of this amount, the volume of investments spent on real estate was about HUF 188 billion. A significant part of the domestic investment is the creation of the logistics center in Biatorbágy and its ongoing development since then. Located on a 255,000 square meter plot, the now 63,800 square meter warehouse, employing around 700 people, ensures the uninterrupted operation of the supply chain. This is where the products from all the suppliers of the supermarket chain arrive, and where the trucks leave to load the ALDI stores in Hungary with goods. A year and a half ago, the company handed over its 8,800-square-meter cold and deep-freezer warehouse built at a cost of 6 billion forints, thanks to which it expanded by four percent – with more than 70 different dairy products, cold cuts, chilled convenience products, meat products, baked goods and vegetables and fruits. the range of the supermarket chain. In order to ensure a greater selection, ALDI has expanded the display bakeries of all its stores across the country for 4.6 billion forints, and for another nearly 3 billion forints it will introduce new, modern fresh meat refrigerators, thanks to which the fresh meat available at ALDI will be 20% larger throughout the year. offer, and twice as many barbecue products will be available during the summer barbecue season than before.
