January prices were 1.4 percent lower
In January consumer prices were 1.4 percent lower than one year ago. Compared with December 2014, consumer prices fell 0.2 percent on average but groceries cost 1.3 percent more in January than in last December. Though milk cost 0.4 percent less and sugar’s price reduced 1.6 percent, seasonal grocery products – potato, fresh fruits and vegetables – became 6.8 percent more expensive. Alcoholic drinks and tobacco products cost 1.2 percent more. If compared with January 2014, grocery prices reduced by 0.7 percent. However, consumers had to pay 1.7 percent more for services and 1.2 percent more for alcoholic drinks and tobacco products
