The Pátria Press turned 130 years old
Exactly 130 years ago, in 1893, Hazánk Irodalmi és Nyomdai Reszvénytársaság was founded, which is considered the predecessor of Pátria Nyomda, which also plays a decisive role in the production of administrative, business and security printing products. The company is the market leader in one of today’s most investment-demanding sectors, and accordingly their plant has recently been expanded with an 8-work, B1 Heidelberg printing press, which will soon be followed by another state-of-the-art equipment. For the first time in the company’s existence, this year it may exceed HUF 10 billion in turnover, and it also has ambitious plans for export activities.
The net sales of Pátria Nyomda increased by almost 30% from 2021 to 2022 and reached HUF 9.7 billion. The company, which employs more than 400 people, is currently closing this year on a positive note, despite the downturn affecting several segments of the economy, and its revenues are expected to exceed 10 billion. In addition, the company calculates that not only their turnover, but also their volume did not fall in 2023, which refutes not only the trends of the trade, but also those who are already burying the paper.
“It is still the raw material whose application is most compatible with the stricter environmental protection regulations: it is 100% recyclable, it decomposes in nature, and, despite contrary opinions, its production is now particularly environmentally friendly. And its advantages can be true even when compared to digital alternatives. According to a recent research, for example, if we read an electronic book for more than 4 hours, it already has a larger ecological footprint than the printed version, taking into account the energy demand of continuous use.
