HUF 11 billion in support is coming to milk producers and fattening bull farmers
In order to ensure the liquidity of cattle farmers in a difficult economic situation, the Ministry of Agriculture has created the conditions for the temporary national support to be paid on the basis of the 2022 legal basis for the 9,600 farmers involved to arrive next week, announced Zsolt Feldman, the state secretary responsible for agriculture and rural development.

The state secretary reminded that last year and this year, each sector of Hungarian agriculture is facing unprecedented and unexpected difficulties. Due to the historic drought in 2022, the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war, the failed Brussels sanctions and the resulting increase in production costs, farmers are facing serious challenges. The government has taken several measures in order to help ensure the financial liquidity of producers. Zsolt Feldman pointed out that the credit moratorium, the interest rate freeze and the possibility of interest subsidies available to livestock keepers within the framework of the Agrár Széchenyi Kártya Current Account can be classified here. – With the help of the current new step, HUF 9.1 billion will be paid to 3,600 milk producers under the title of national milk subsidy, while HUF 1.8 billion will be paid to 6,000 beef cattle farmers under the title of fattened bulls. The benefits are based on the historical basic entitlements available to farmers in 2022, the reference year of which will be updated in the case of future payments thanks to the EU decision made in this area within the framework of the current Common Agricultural Policy reform. In the case of temporary national subsidies, the Hungarian State Treasury will determine the new basic entitlements after the current payments have been made, he added.
