MediaMarkt: the amount of e-waste collected from households increased by 55 percent
In the first eight months, 1,067 tons of e-waste came to the processors from MediaMarkt’s customers, one and a half times as much as a year ago, according to the data of the technical store chain and Inter-Metal Recycling Kft., which deals with electronic waste management.
MediaMark told MTI in a statement that the volume had stagnated in previous years, so the increaes surprised waste management professionals.
Nearly 80 percent of the electrical and electronic waste delivered is household appliances, refrigerators, but small household appliances, as well as monitors and televisions, have also been sent to landfills in large numbers. (MTI)
