100 years together on the road – Shell Hungary celebrates its 100th birthday in 2025
This year, Shell Hungary celebrates its 100th birthday. The company, which now welcomes travelers at nearly 200 filling stations nationwide, is one of the first foreign investors to proudly look back on its significant role in the domestic economy and its contribution to domestic energy security and a sustainable future.
The commitment of employees is the foundation of Shell’s success. Flexible working, talent management, and a caring approach are top priorities at the company. In recent years, numerous awards, such as the Family-Friendly, Fair, and Loveable Workplace awards, have confirmed Shell’s commitments to its employees.
Shell Hungary prioritizes supporting local communities and has partnerships with several Hungarian organizations that date back decades. This is symbolized by the company’s more than 35-year partnership with the Peter Cerny Foundation for the rescue of premature babies in Hungary, during which time the foundation’s doctors have performed nearly 100,000 interventions, treated 3,000 premature babies annually, and thanks to Shell’s donation, their ambulances run more than 150,000 kilometers every year with Shell fuel.
In addition to regular volunteer work, Shell Hungary also supports the Peter Cerny Foundation, SOS Children’s Villages and the Gézengúz Foundation with ClubSmart equipment purchases at a discount. The company has been a long-time supporter of the HBLF Xmentor program and the Romaster Foundation, which promote the professional development of the next generation.
Shell Hungary supports parasports through its cooperation with the BOM Foundation for Hungarian Sports, thereby drawing attention to people with disabilities and the importance of inclusion at the societal level.
