Orange prices up 10 percent
According to a December report by the European Commission, the EU’s orange production could increase by 8 percent to 6.18 million tonnes in 2024 compared to a year earlier.

According to preliminary data from Eurostat, orange production in Spain increased by 10 percent to 2.97 million tonnes, and in Italy by 8 percent to 1.98 million tonnes. EU orange imports (mainly from South Africa) reached 187.1 tonnes in the first three months of the 2024/2025 marketing year (October-September). According to European Commission data, the net producer price of oranges was 93 euro cents per kilogram in December 2024, on average across member states, down 6 percent from a year earlier.
Data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH) indicate that Hungary’s orange imports increased by 19 percent to 18.1 thousand tons in the first ten months of 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year
According to data from AKI PÁIR, the wholesale price of oranges on the Budapest Wholesale Market increased (+6 percent, 724 forints/kilogram) in 2024 compared to a year earlier. In the first two weeks of 2025, the price of oranges was 10 percent higher (770 forints/kilogram) than a year earlier.
