10 millió Fa: it is vital for everyone to water trees
A young tree needs at least 50-70 liters of water per week to survive in a drought. The 10 Million Trees community is therefore calling on everyone to water at least one tree every weekend, thus ensuring its survival and a livable environment for future generations. They point out that in these extreme times, human attention can mean survival even for older trees, and that even the rain brought by torrential rains is not a cure-all, since most of the time it does not reach the roots of the trees.
“There has been a drought again for weeks. Even two years ago, this year too, it has taken on a historic dimension, as after consecutive days and consecutive weeks, the relieving rain still does not come. The 10 million Fa national Tree Planting community is responding to the situation with action, as it has been doing so far,” they write in their Facebook post, in which they announce a series of watering “sports events” for the survival of trees!

The climate is changing, conditions are changing, we humans must change too, if we look even a little bit ahead to tomorrow. In order for our cities and settlements to offer a livable and survivable environment for our children and grandchildren, we must act today, and on these hot days we must be able to organize the watering of those trees which, after a few years, will be able to survive the critical weeks. But not now!” they write.
